CLASSIC HUNKS: Aiden Quinn

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day I thought it would be fun to feature an Irish film celebrity as this month’s CLASSIC HUNK. (Plus, I’ve had a teensy crush on Aiden Quinn for a long time. Sorry, Colin Farrell and Liam Neeson.)  He was born in Illinois in 1959, but raised on both sides of the Atlantic in both Chicago and Dublin. His parents were devout Irish Catholics.

Aiden Quinn has had an impressive career in films, television, and theatre with a long list of acting credits and award nominations. He appeared in Desperately Seeking Susan, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Practical Magic, This is My Father and acclaimed television specials An Early Frost, Empire Falls and many others.

Legends of the Fall is one of my favorite movies of all time. Aiden Quinn played the part Alfred, the brother who defends and marries Susannah (Julia Ormond) when she’s abandoned by her impulsive lover Tristan, played by Brad Pitt.

I think Aiden Quinn is the perfect choice for us lassies as the March CLASSIC HUNK. Agreed?

Ooh, I’ve always loved his eyes. The rest is good too, but oh, when those Irish Eyes are smilin’…!

Thanks, Adele! I saw your email pop up and the first thing out of my mouth was, “Oh goodie! It’s Hunk Day!” :)

  2. Judi Fennell Says:

Sadly, even though I love his name, Aiden doesn’t do it for me. I was hoping Pierce Brosnan was going to be your Irishmen. Yes, I know, you’ve had him on before, but imo there’s never too much Pierce. :)

Luck o’ the Irish t’ya, Adele! We’re off to my (Italian) mom’s house tonight for some corned beef and cabbage. Dad’s the Irishman in my family but he doesn’t like it. My mom, Italian grandmother and my sister all slurp it down like nobody’s business. I can’t wait for dinner! :)

Like Carla, I love your Hunk days! Aiden Quinn is a gorgeous man. Thanks for the St. Paddy’s Day smile!

  4. Adele Dubois Says:

Carla–Your comments about my CLASSIC HUNKS column made my day! (And my St. Patrick’s Day. Thanks!)

Judi–Funny you should mention Pierce, because I did consider an encore column featuring him. But, Aiden needed a turn, and he’s a handsome, worthy Irishman. He seems like an all-around good guy, too. Married to the same woman for twenty-three years, which makes him even more special.

Marie–What would I do without your loyal visits?

Thanks for playing! I hope you have the luck o’ the Irish!

    Best–Adele

  5. Dani K Says:

Aye, what a man! If it ’twas me luck I’d have be born earlier and had him for meself! Okay, a little too much Irish there probably, but seein’ as how tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day and my heritage is Irish well, I had to do it. :o) I have to add that he’s a fine man indeed! I loved him in Legends of the Fall and Practical Magic (my absolute favorite). His eyes are gorgeous, but it’s a certain look he uses that does it for me and the second picture pretty much does it.

You could have put Liam in there too. I’ve liked him since I saw him in Krull (I saw that before Excalibur). The only one I thought he looked weird in was High Spirits. Pierce and Colin would have been perfect too. Even Peter O’Toole (when he was a young man of course). Okay, so I just love Irish men in general! What can I say? I think you made the best choice though.

    Cheers!

Dani–I loved your post. Very entertaining. Yes, you’re right about the handsome Irishmen. I admire them all. I agree Aiden Quinn was terrific in Practical Magic. Loved him, loved the movie. He was absolutley yummy in that film. My fave is Legends of the Fall, but Aiden played a great hero in Practical Magic.

Thanks for visiting and posting. Happy Irish!

    Best–Adele

    Adele,

I love Aiden Quinn. I first saw him in “Desperately Seeking Susan” with Madonna. I’m no fan of Madonna, but Quinn was so sexy. I fell in love with him then. Never saw “Legends of the Fall.” But I’ve seen many other movies and TV shows with Aiden Quinn. Thanks for featuring one of my favorite hunks.

  8. Liz English Says:

A fine choice! Made my St. Paddy’s Day Eve a whole lot brighter.

  9. Adele Dubois Says:

Carolyn– I aim to please. :) So glad you enjoyed Aiden’s column. You must, must watch Legends of the Fall. I’ve seen it at least six times, and will probably watch it six more. Aiden is fabulous in this film.

Liz–Glad I could make your night brighter. Good to see you!

    Thanks for visiting and posting!

    Best–Adele
