Give Thanks for Sagi Kalev

It’s been months since I posted pics of bodybuilder and model Sagi Kalev. His gorgeous face and spectacular physique make women thankful for the Internet. Check out my former posts with pictures and videos of this handsome hunk.

No one wears jeans, or not wears a shirt, quite like Sagi Kalev.

Here’s a pic of me with Sagi taken a couple of years ago. :) Okay, I admit the woman in the photo is a model, though she has curly blonde hair like mine (except my hair is naturally curly.)  What woman wouldn’t want to kiss Sagi on the cheek?

Thanksgiving Snowfall

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Like most Americans, my family and I have had to make sacrifices to cope with the deepening economic crisis. As Thanksgiving draws near, I’ve had to dig deep to find special reasons to be thankful.

Then I awoke this morning to a rare, amazing sight—a significant November snowfall. I rushed outside with my camera to take photos of my backyard with snowflakes swirling around my face. Suddenly, the simple list I’d made of reasons to be thankful seemed like more than enough. In a moment of clarity, the symbol of Thanksgiving–the Horn of Plenty–offered comfort as I took pleasure in the beauty surrounding my home.

Home.

Despite difficulties and obstacles, I have everything I need.

Thomas Mark Harmon was born in Burbank, California in 1951. He played Quarterback for the UCLA Bruins 1972-73, was lucky Number 7,  and the recipient of the National Football Foundation Award for All-Around Excellence in 1973. Two years later he made his television debut as Paul Donin in the popular series Police Woman starring Angie Dickinson.

People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive 1986. Wow!  Some men do have it all.

Mark has a long list of movie and television credits, including the Emmy Award-winning series St. Elsewhere, for his role as Dr. Robert Caldwell, 1983-86. He appeared in Moonlighting in 1987 as Cybill Shepard’s love interest, Sam Crawford, in addition to parts in numerous other hit shows throughtout the Nineties (JAG and others) to the present.

Mark Harmon has played NCIS Special Agent team leader Jethro Gibbs since 2003. Do you know he’s also uncle to the late Ricky Nelson’s sons Matthew and Gunnar and actress Tracy Nelson? Good looks and talent certainly run in the family.

I heard from a friend of a friend of a friend that Mark Harmon is a quiet, devoted family man who shies away from his long-time hunk image.

I think Mark Harmon is the perfect CLASSIC HUNK. Don’t you agree?

My husband was a Navy man and my dad a Marine. The hero in my new book DESERT FEVER is Marine, too.

For your entertainment pleasure, here are fifteen more reasons to admire the brave, hardworking men of the U.S. Navy.

Thank you!

DESERT SNOW MOON

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

November is the month of the full Snow Moon. If the lovers in my new release DESERT FEVER by Adele Dubois were driving through the Mojave Desert in Marybeth’s convertible, the moon would cast bright light over the Joshua Trees ahead. Marybeth and Jake would hear the sounds of coyotes, mountain lions, crickets, and katydids in the distance. The ‘booming’ noise of the Kelso Sand Dunes, where rose quartz particles and residual sand collide to form a distinctive pink, would echo in the cool autumn air. The citrus fragrance of ragged rock flowers that grow through cliff side cracks would scent the night.

The November full moon will arrive November 13, 2008, when the astrological calendar is in Taurus. The full Snow Moon is also called Frost Moon or Fog Moon, due to the month’s predominant weather pattern, and Beaver Moon in American backwoods tradition. I like the sound of Snow Moon best, because its name is the most romantic.

The Joshua Tree is the symbol of the Mojave Desert; the only American desert where these trees will grow. The full moon is a symbol of love. The Celts called November the time of beginnings and endings, and I think Marybeth and Jake would agree. Their love began in the Mojave Desert, where DESERT FEVER is set; the place Marybeth found Jake after his motorcycle became disabled.

What about the hero and heroine’s ending? In romance novels, there can be only one. Happily-Ever-After, of course.

DESERT FEVER, NEW RELEASE!

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

What a thrilling week it has been! Our country elected a new president, our city of Philadelphia won the World Series, we partied on Halloween, and I have a new book release from Ellora’s Cave. I don’t know whether to sip some hot chamomile tea or break out the margaritas from all the excitement!

DESERT FEVER is about a GPS system with the power to grant wishes by locating whatever the heroine needs most. Every woman should have a GPS navigator like Guy, don’t you agree?

Celebrate my new release with me!

Love is a Mighty Word

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

I met an agent at the New Jersey Romance Writers regional conference who said she *loved* (emphasis hers) the women’s fiction novel I pitched, requested the full manuscript, and then asked serious questions about my career goals. The next day I read her blog (of course) where she mentioned she had met an author at the conference whose work she *loved* (yes, she said it again!) and had made her trip to the conference worthwhile.

Wow.

If you’re a writer you know how rare it is to hear the word *love* from anyone. Mostly what we get is rejection and ridicule. When you find some love it’s a rare gift. My editor at Ellora’s Cave tells me she *loves* my books, which is why I’m still published with that company. Reviewers and readers have been extremely kind. But until I got my first break in publishing, the word *love* was something I heard only at home from my family. Even that makes me lucky.

Whether or not the agent from the conference and I will make good working partners remains to be seen. But there was a whole lotta’ power in her word *love.* Her encouragement inspired me to work harder to put extra polish on my women’s fiction novel before I send it to her. The *love* gave me the confidence to do added promotion for DESERT FEVER, which releases November 5. Her enthusiasm boosted my resolve to finish my work in progress, the next book in my GPS Desert series. And my muse ran wild as I developed an idea for a new story.

There is power in the spoken and written word. *Love* is surely the mightiest.
