Hot & Sweaty With Equal Parts Love, Please
Monday, July 28th, 2008They strolled with their arms around each other’s waists as they made their way across the grassy park where I take my routine walk; stopping from time to time to whisper in each other’s ear, link hands, and laugh. I watched, transfixed, as the lovers continued their way across the square, focused solely on one another.
I wondered. Was their love new, or had they loved for years? They were senior citizens; both well into their seventies. I thought, Good for them. My grandmother married her second husband at age 76 and loved him until she died at 82. She told me those were the happiest years of her life.
“Enduring love is the most romantic love of all” is my personal quote and the one I use most when promoting my book DREAM TRAVELER. The story begs the question: If you could have technologically-restored youth, would you choose it? What if your lifelong partner couldn’t come with you? Would you choose it, then?
Although I write erotic romance, which admittedly includes explicit sex in the storylines, the emphasis of my books is LOVE with lots and lots of romance. Reading about sex without emotional connection is, well… kind of like reading the ins and outs of a technical manual. Love is what brings more zing to sex. But maybe that’s just me.
The elderly couple I saw in the park reminded me that you can have love and romance at any age–hopefully with a zesty dash of passion. I like my romance novels hot and sweaty, but give me equal parts of love with them, please.
